Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Jakob Pähler
Jakob Pähler, son of Ellen and Axel Pähler, is a resilient member of the class of 2025. A passionate athlete and musician, Jakob devotes countless hours to the basketball court and finds creative release playing the guitar.
Jakob’s favorite high‑school memory is the thrilling homecoming football game this year, when ECS clinched victory in the final seconds—and Jakob celebrated his first touchdown. At school he has competed in Football, Basketball, and Baseball, bringing energy and teamwork to every season.
His favorite class is Advanced PE, perfectly suited to his love of all sports and constant drive to improve. Jakob is most proud of helping the basketball team reach the district final this year; despite a rough start to the season, the team rallied together and finished strong.
After graduation, Jakob will return to Switzerland to complete his schooling there. His long‑term goal is to attend university and study medicine, carrying forward his dedication and determination into a career of helping others.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – William John Sponable
William John Sponable, son of Steve and Naomi Sponable, is a thoughtful member of the class of 2025. Whether he’s golfing, gaming, watching movies, or simply hanging out with friends, Will enjoys almost any activity that brings people together.
Will’s favorite high‑school memory is the legendary “Bald Eagle” moment—a story his friends still retell with laughter whenever they get together. At ECS, he’s an enthusiastic member of the Golf team, steadily improving his game, a quick thinker in Quiz Bowl, and an engaged delegate in Model UN.
His favorite subject is History—not only because, as Will notes, “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it,” but also because the material feels intuitive to him (with a special shoutout to Physics for keeping things interesting). Will’s proudest accomplishment is earning the CTE Graphics award with Mr. Z, a testament to his creativity and technical skill.
Post‑graduation plans are still unfinalized, but college is the likely next step as Will explores where his diverse interests can take him.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Cameron Lee-Amick Snyder
Cameron Lee-Amick Snyder, son of Josh and Brittany Snyder, is a compassionate leader in the class of 2025. A true sports enthusiast, Cameron loves reading about, watching, and playing just about any game. He’s also a dedicated music fan and a self-proclaimed film nerd who never turns down a good movie discussion.
Cameron’s favorite high-school memory is the senior class trip to Washington, D.C.—a whirlwind of historic sights, laughter, and shared experiences that forged lasting bonds. Over the years, he has immersed himself in a wide range of activities: Football, Basketball, Baseball, Quiz Bowl, Little Buddies, SAFE, Student Council (President), Class President, Model UN, SAFE in Northern Michigan, Youth Advisory Council, and National Honor Society.
Cameron’s favorite subject is English. He enjoys writing, analyzing stories, uncovering deeper meanings, and—according to friends—being a bit of a grammar nut. What makes him proudest, though, is how much he has grown as a person. Once shy and anxious, Cameron has stepped confidently into leadership roles and made it a mission to help others come out of their shells.
After graduation, Cameron will head to the University of Michigan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Business Economics and/or Communications—ready to tackle the future with the same drive and heart he’s shown at ECS.

Samantha Sue Paalman, daughter of Katie and Ray St. Amour, is a sun-loving member of the class of 2025. She enjoys soaking up sunshine on the lake, running, eating out, spending time outdoors, and taking carefree car rides with her sister.
Sammy’s favorite high-school memory is the senior trip to Washington, D.C.—her first taste of a big city and the thrill of exploring it on foot with friends. At ECS she has been an essential teammate in Basketball, Cross Country, and Volleyball, bringing energy and camaraderie to every season.
Her favorite class is Agriscience, simply because she loves learning new things about the world around her. Sammy is especially proud of graduating high school and embracing the opportunities that lie ahead.
After graduation, Sammy will attend Ferris State University to pursue a degree in Special Education, ready to make a difference in the lives of future students.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Chance Robert Solomon
Chance Robert Solomon, son of Angela and James Solomon, is the valedictorian of the class of 2025. Away from the classroom, Chance enjoys programming, reading, hiking local trails, gaming, and sharpening his strategic thinking over chess matches.
One of Chance’s favorite high-school memories came during the Washington, D.C. trip, where he was captivated by the grandeur of the National Cathedral—especially the moon rock embedded in one of its stained-glass windows. At ECS, Chance has excelled in Robotics, Quiz Bowl, Model UN, and National Honor Society, combining curiosity with leadership.
His favorite class is AP Computer Science, perfectly aligned with his passion for coding and his future ambitions. Chance’s proudest accomplishment is raising his SAT score from 1350 to 1580—an achievement made even more impressive by the fact that he has yet to take calculus. He views this leap as proof that persistence and self-study pay off, regardless of outside recognition.
After graduation, Chance will attend the University of Michigan to pursue a degree in Computer Science, eager to turn his love of programming into innovative solutions.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Ariana Naomi Mignon Koons
Ariana Naomi Mignon Koons is a reflective member of the class of 2025. Most days you’ll find Ariana working, hanging out with friends, writing, reading, or simply relaxing with her phone—quiet pastimes that let her recharge and stay connected.
One of Ariana’s favorite high‑school memories came during Lancer Leap at the end of junior year, when she and Haylie capped off a kayaking trip by leaping straight into the lake. The spontaneous splash, shared laughter, and perfect summer weather turned an ordinary day into a standout moment.
While Ariana’s school involvement has been selective, she made a meaningful impact by helping with the Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser and taking the stage in the Lancer Leap production “I Want My MTV,” where she sang lead vocals alongside Avrey. These experiences let her step out of her comfort zone and celebrate school spirit.
Ariana’s favorite class is Agriscience, a course that feeds her curiosity about the natural world and keeps learning hands‑on and engaging.
After graduation, Ariana will attend Kirtland Community College this fall to begin the next chapter of her education.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Lillie Ann Brusse
Lillie Ann Brusse, daughter of Annette Hyde and Paul Brusse, is a spirited member of the class of 2025. In her free time, Lillie enjoys perfecting nail designs and making quick runs to Subway with friends.
One of Lillie’s favorite high‑school memories is the Washington, D.C. trip, where the sights, laughter, and shared adventures created lasting friendships. This year, she has focused her energies on Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG), a program that builds leadership and career‑readiness skills.
Lillie’s favorite class is Agriscience, thanks to Mrs. Potter, who keeps lessons engaging, fair, and respectful of students’ lives outside school. She is especially proud of maintaining A and B grades during her senior year while holding a job and pursuing her interests.
After graduation, Lillie plans to attend cosmetology school and begin working in the beauty industry.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Julia Elizabeth Lane Sundstrom
Julia Elizabeth Lane Sundstrom, daughter of Molly and Jacob Sundstrom, is an adventurous member of the class of 2025. Her passions include horseback riding, showing cattle, and hunting—activities that keep her connected to the outdoors and her agricultural roots.
One of Julia’s favorite high school memories is working in Tech Apps with Mrs. V, where creativity and camaraderie made every class period memorable. Throughout her time at ECS, Julia has been an active leader and teammate in SAFE, YAC, Student Council, Quiz Bowl, softball, volleyball, and FFA.
Julia’s favorite subject is Agriscience (AG), where she loves diving into the world of plants and animals and enjoys the privilege of being part of FFA. Maintaining strong grades alongside her busy schedule is an accomplishment she holds with pride.
After graduation, Julia will head to basic training for the National Guard, complete her MOS school, and then enroll at Ferris State University in the spring to begin a degree in Dental Hygiene.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Oliver Jude Michanowicz
Oliver Jude Michanowicz, son of James and Stacey Michanowicz, is a thoughtful member of the Class of 2025. In his free time, Oliver enjoys playing games and occasionally heading out for airsoft matches. A favorite high school memory was the Washington, D.C. trip, where he had the chance to explore history with his classmates.
A quiet presence in the classroom, Oliver expresses himself best through his creativity—especially in graphics, where he enjoys the freedom to design and bring his ideas to life. He’s also a dedicated member of the Quiz Bowl team. One of his proudest achievements from high school is earning his driver’s license—a milestone that represents his growing independence.
After graduation, Oliver plans to attend college and continue building toward a bright future.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Isabella Mae Essenberg
Isabella Mae Essenberg, daughter of Dutch and Sarah Essenberg, is a vibrant and well-rounded member of the Class of 2025. Her hobbies reflect her love of both the outdoors and creativity—she enjoys mountain biking, running, tubing, watercolor painting, reading, playing pickleball and softball, and spending time with friends, family, and her faith. One of her favorite high school memories was performing We Built This City with Julia and Hannah during the Lancer Leap showcase.
Isabella is a three-sport athlete, competing in softball, volleyball, and basketball. She’s also an active leader in organizations such as Quiz Bowl, S.A.F.E., Big Buddies, Y.A.C., Student Council, and Class Committee. Her favorite subject is English, where she appreciates the chance to be creative and expressive—thanks to Mrs. Terryberry’s encouragement and support. Among her many accomplishments, she’s most proud of helping her basketball team win the Northern Lakes Conference for the first time since 2012, alongside what she calls “the most supportive team” she’s ever been a part of.
After graduation, Isabella plans to attend Ferris State University to pursue a degree in Occupational Therapy or Social Work.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Adriana Garcia Rodriguez
Adriana Garcia Rodriguez, hosted by Jeanna and Nick Michalek, has brought warmth, energy, and courage to the Class of 2025 during her time as a foreign exchange student. She enjoys playing sports, spending time with her friends and loved ones, listening to music, and cherishing moments with her family. One of her favorite high school memories was the Washington, D.C. trip, where she had an unforgettable time exploring the city and sharing laughs with friends.
Adriana has been actively involved in volleyball, cheer, and softball, and she’s also made her mark in student leadership as vice president of the Student Council and a member of SAFE. Her favorite class has been Graphics, where she enjoys using her creativity to bring unique ideas to life through design. Of all her accomplishments, Adriana is most proud of the strength it took to leave her home country of Spain at just 16 years old to begin a new chapter on a different continent, in a new language, and with new people.
After this year, Adriana plans to return to Spain to complete her senior year and then continue on to college.

Kyley Kay Fuller, daughter of Jerry and Nadine Fuller and the late Brad Fisher, is an adventurous and compassionate member of the class of 2025. Her favorite hobbies—fishing, hunting, swimming, playing sports, and spending time with friends—reflect her love for the outdoors and her energetic spirit.
One of Kyley’s favorite high school memories is dressing up as the Lorax with Calista for Halloween 2023, a moment full of laughter and creativity. Throughout her years at ECS, she has been deeply involved in a wide variety of activities, including Cross Country, Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, Track, SAFE, Model UN, Big/Little Buddies, NHS, Class Committee, Quiz Bowl, and YAC—demonstrating her commitment to both academics and community.
Kyley’s favorite subject is English, a class she enjoys for its independence and the opportunity to dive into different stories and ideas. A passionate reader, she finds joy in exploring the written word at her own pace. Among her proudest accomplishments are the two mission trips she has taken, where she had the opportunity to support and serve communities in need—experiences that deeply shaped her outlook on life and service.

Landon Jacob Clees, son of Jon and Christina Clees, is a hands-on and humorous member of the class of 2025. He enjoys spending time fixing his four-wheeler, a hobby that reflects both his mechanical skill and his love for getting his hands dirty.
One of Landon’s favorite high school memories is attending the small engine class—a place where he’s been able to learn, explore, and build confidence in a trade he genuinely enjoys. At ECS, Landon has been a member of the basketball team and is especially fond of lunch, where he’s known for his lighthearted goal of getting people to say “chicken nuggets.”
Landon’s proudest achievement is his pursuit of a Small Engine Certification, a step he plans to continue after graduation by going to college and further developing his technical skills.

Brooklyn Mae Swenson, daughter of Tracy and Lisa Swenson, is a determined and upbeat member of the class of 2025. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and going to the gym—activities that keep her grounded and energized.
One of Brooklyn’s favorite high school memories is making random podcasts and skits in Tech Apps class, where creativity and laughter were always part of the process. At ECS, she’s been involved in SAFE and YAC, two organizations that have allowed her to connect with others and give back to the community.
Her favorite subject is Government and Economics—not just for the content, but because “it is never a boring time in Mrs. V’s room.” Brooklyn credits her success in high school to staying focused and setting clear academic goals, and she’s most proud of achieving every one of them.
After graduation, Brooklyn plans to attend Ferris State University to pursue a degree in Dental Hygiene, continuing her commitment to helping others with confidence and care.
